Photography can be a very personal medium of expression because it allows others to see through our eyes and read some of our thoughts. And like every true artform photography is subjectively interpretive. It is less important the thoughts and feelings of the artist as he or she snaps that one moment in time than it is the experience of the viewer. And that experience is adaptive. Even the artist himself has a different view of the same piece of work over time. That's the true value of photography over other forms of art. A seemingly static view of nature can change in meaning over the course of perspective.

Just as different painters will use different mediums, so too a photographer has his choice of many different cameras. They all say different things. Fotoz.com does not discriminate. These pages contain works taken with film cameras - from disposable to large format - and with digital cameras ranging in size from the new, popular camera phones to larger digital SLRs. Every camera has a unique function. Sometimes a deliberate approach is demanded such as a grand panoramic and the large format film camera and tripod is called upon. Other times, a more covert, less obtrusive, candid object is desired. In this case a camera phone comes in handy.

And as the different camera's physical characteristics lead to different uses they also lead to different outcomes. A smaller camera is more apt to be handheld than a larger camera and the resulting picture will likely be less technically sharp but perhaps more vital because an element of motion will be introduced. The color from different films or from the digital technique will vastly affect the artistic qualities of the work. None of these differences are inherently good or bad. They simply exist and you decide - or feel - what it's all about.

Enjoy.
